DA new feature: let's make our voice heard

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 19, 2010, 10:46 AM

note me

i was concerned when i started reading `Rahll's journal --> [link]

i think DA is taking a wrong step, we users (deviants) should be able to manage our own deviations, i do personally work in specific display sizes for my DA account and i think many others do the same, i really really wouldn't like DA taking decisions about my deviations and what "their proper size" should be.is just upsetting, now how could we know how other deviants are seeing our art, it does worry me... terribly

for more info read the link i gave you ^^
we are DA and our voice should be heard before decisions like these are made

You still can decide what size your artworks will be displayed on dA.

You just need to upload a smaller file for the view and if you offer prints you will separately upload a larger print file which is not displayed. If you upload your work 500x500 px dA won't resize for example. :O

yup i just did that, uploaded a file for my print and then another for the preview, but for example most of my files (like 90% of them) are 700px wide or even 800px and i made them specially for DA and they're intended to be displayed that size, this would mean i'd have to change this and make them all 500px if i want them to be shown at it's real (DA) size? 'cause when a site re size files on it's own it does changes quality and i really don't want that but i'm not comfortable with 500px size either and like it's been said, not many download to get the large (intended) size

I have really hated this removal. What if I don't want to offer a download of my image? What if someone paid me to make this for them. I don't want 300 people downloading it..what was so wrong about the old way :/ not everyone wants to watch HD tv so why force them too?

I agree with you! This has made me SO angry! I will not be putting any more works up until DA change this and let us have our choices in sizes of work to put up!

hopefully they'll change it quickly
not many liked it, many are complaining and i think (i hope) DA it's aimed to hear us and do what's best

Yes, and I found that if I want to see some deviations, like comic strips (vertical), I have to download them, because they're too small.
I still don't think this is right...
They say that way we don't have to scroll large deviations...I don't mind scrolling, why should someone decide for me?
I want my last deviation (1200x900 available to download) to look 900x, but now it's 1000x750 (:wtf:???) and I have to scroll to see it, so...
I really can't see the benefits.
